The Telegram development team exists in Dubai. Most of the developers behind Telegram originally exist in St. Petersburg, the city famous for its unprecedented number of highly skilled engineers. The Telegram team had to depart from Russia due to local IT regulations and has tried many locations as its base, including Berlin, London, and Singapore. Telegram is currently happy with Dubai, although is ready to move again if local regulations change.
Telegram users do not have to face advertisements. Telegram does not sell users’ data. Telegram does not steal users’ beloved persons and enslaves users’ children.
Pavel Durov provided Telegram with a generous donation and so Telegram has quite enough money for the time being. If Telegram runs out, it will initiate non-essential paid options to assist the infrastructure and finance developer salaries. But earning profits will never be counted as an end-goal for Telegram.
Big internet companies like Facebook or Google have effectively seized the privacy disclosure in recent years. Their marketers gave efforts to convince the public that the most important things about privacy are superficial tools and these tools allow hiding one’s public posts from the people around oneself. Adding these superficial tools allows companies to calm down the public and change nothing in how they are turning over private data to marketers and other third parties.

Telegram believes that the two most important components of Internet privacy should be instead:

1. Ensuring the protection of one’s private conversations from snooping third parties, such as officials, employers, etc.
2. Ensuring the protection of one’s data from third parties, such as marketers, advertisers, etc.

This is what everyone should think about these two components of internet privacy and these are some of Telegram’s top priorities. Telegram aims to design a truly free messenger, without the usual caveats. This indicates that instead of diverting public attention with low-impact settings, Telegram can have the capability to focus on the real privacy issues that stay in the modern world.
New regulations regarding data privacy are termed as the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) was introduced in Europe on May 25, 2018. Since taking back Telegram’s right to privacy was the reason Telegram Company created Telegram, and there was not much Telegram company had to change. Telegram does not use one’s data for advertisement targeting. Telegram does not sell one’s data to others, and Telegram company is not part of any dangerous “family of companies.”
